The Rey of Hope Gala is Holy Family Cristo Rey’s premier fundraising event and a celebration of everything our students make possible. Each year, we gather with donors, corporate partners, alumni, and community members for an evening of inspiration, entertainment, and investment in the future of Birmingham’s youth. Proceeds from the Gala directly support scholarships and the transformative programs that empower our students to graduate college-ready and career-prepared.

Redirect Your Alabama Tax Dollars to a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO)
Holy Family Cristo Rey proudly partners with Scholarships for Kids, C2 Opportunity Scholarship, and Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund to ensure that students are receiving a quality education that fits their individual needs through the Alabama Accountability Act.
When you redirect your state tax dollars to these scholarship-granting organizations (SGOs), you’re not just giving a scholarship: you’re getting a tax credit!
Individuals who contribute to an SGO can redirect 100% of their state tax liability, with an annual maximum tax credit of $100,000. Corporate contributors can redirect up to 100% of their TOTAL tax liability, with no maximum limit.
The deadline to redirect your Alabama tax dollars for the current tax year is December 31. The process is quick and easy, and your participation will make a difference in futures of Holy Family Cristo Rey students.

Your $8,000 Gift Can Sponsor a CWSP Job Placement at a Local Non-Profit
As a CWSP Angel Sponsor, you can cover the cost to place a motivated student worker at a Birmingham-area non-profit. Through their participation in the Corporate Work Study Program, students placed at non-profits can gain professional skills and experience while completing valuable and meaningful work to support the mission of other charitable organizations in our area. It's a win for our students, a win for non-profits, and a win for our community!

In-Kind Donations
Support Cristo Rey student in a meaningful and practical way by donating high-need items that directly benefit our students. In-kind donations help us create a well-stocked, safe, and welcoming school environment, one where every student can focus on learning, growing, and achieving their goals.
High Need Items Include:
- Gas Cards: Help cover fuel costs so that students can get to their Corporate Work Study jobs
- Hygiene Items: Our Cristo Rey Cares Center provides students with access to personal care essentials. We welcome donations of travel-size laundry detergent, soap, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, and other self-care items.
- College Sweatshirts: As part of building a college-going culture, students are allowed to wear college gear on Fridays, and we reward students who meet SAT/PSAT benchmarks by presenting them with a new college sweatshirt. Purchase one from your alma mater to give to a high-achieving HFCR student!

Planned gifts can also offer tax advantages, including reducing or eliminating capital gains taxes and lowering federal or state estate taxes.
Establishing a planned gift is simple and can be arranged through your attorney or financial advisor. Once your plans are in place, we only ask to be notified of the gift's existence and provided the name and contact information of the executor. No amounts or stipulations need to be communicated.
