Do all Cristo Rey students go to work?
All Cristo Rey students must participate in the Corporate Internship Program. CIP is part of the curriculum and finances the majority of each student's education. Each student will work one day each week and then one rotating day each month for a total of five days each month.
How old must a student be to participate in the CIP?
All students must be at least 14 years old before they can begin work with a CIP client.
Does the work schedule interfere with the class schedule?
No, the daily schedule is organized in such a way that students complete a full weekly schedule. By extending the academic year as well as lengthening school days, students are able to fulfill the requirements of a college preparatory education.
What types of work are students expected to perform?
Student teams of four cover one full-time entry level position. Tasks may include filing, data entry, copying, scanning, receptionist duties & event planning. A job may also evolve over time as a student gains more experience, becoming more technically difficult & increasing independence.
How do the students get to and from work?
All transportation is provided by Holy Family Cristo Rey. Students report to school in the morning and are taken by bus to their work locations.
Are students paid directly?
No, funds are paid directly to Holy Family Cristo Rey. Students are not on company payroll, but are employed by the Corporate Internship Program.
Who supervises the students at work?
The CIP staff has a working relationship with an on-site supervisor for each participating company. Supervisors and Holy Family Cristo Rey staff will work together to ensure that students receive the guidance, education and support needed for the student to achieve in the workplace.
